I just couldn’t help myself. Nelly was finally back from the dead and running, but still had a lot of kinks to work out before becoming truly roadworthy. The ‘kinks’ were little things, you know, like the addition of shocks and seat belts and the ability to not have the engine die stop lights.
I’d been working on her for what felt like 5 years, and perhaps I needed to just feel that tangible progress of actually driving down the road. I decided to go ahead and take her for a spin, and while it was, perhaps, marginally safe (for me as her driver, not the others on the road mind you), I took it easy and did a short trek to Boulder and back. It was totally worth it, she made the trip without too much fuss, and I grinned ear to ear the whole way.
We’ve still got a ways to go, but Nelly’s official maiden voyage was a raging success and I can’t wait to finish her and launch The ShutterBus!
